HOW CF VESTS WORLDWIDE STARTED
HOW VEST DONATIONS BEGAN
Some may say CF Vests Worldwide was spawned though coincidence, while others say there is no such thing as coincidence.
In early January 2020, a young lady with Cystic Fibrosis living in Chile, whom Rod had never met, contacted him on social media, and asked if he had a Vest to donate. After some thought, Rod realized he could donate his own, as he no longer needed it post-transplant. Two or three weeks later, another Cystic Fibrosis patient, this time in Lebanon, also one whom Rod (our Founder) had never met, contacted him via social media, and requested a Vest. After posting the ask on Facebook, a young lady with Cystic Fibrosis in Ohio offered to donate hers which she no longer needed, and Rod was fortunate to facilitate the transfer.
Rod began to think there must be a wider gap in our community beyond just these two he had observed, and one that could be filled by the transfer of Vests from Cystic Fibrosis patients who no longer needed them, to those in our community who are without the means of obtaining this life-extending tool.
Seeing that, the vision of a quest to fill this void between the Vest haves and have nots in our Cystic Fibrosis community was formed. Accordingly, in June 2020, CF Vests Worldwide, a 501(c)(3) corporatation, was created.
